We believe in offering for hire only high quality, modern, reliable and clean VW campervans with all the latest fixtures and fittings, together with a friendly and efficient service for our customers.

Everything we do at Counting Sheep Campers is done with honesty and transparency. This not only applies when things go right but also more importantly if things go wrong. Any problems that may occur will always be dealt with directly by us in a prompt, efficient and friendly manner.

We know that everyone has busy lives and it is sometimes difficult to arrange holidays. So we always try and be as flexible with your bookings as possible, so you can get the holiday experience you deserve.

Unlike other companies, we do not insist on certain check-in and check-out days. We even offer an option of a Meet & Greet service at Edinburgh or Newcastle airports or at our local train station. See How it works

We also try where possible to accommodate pick up and return times, so that your campervan hire can fit around your holiday plans.

We are fully committed to being as environmentally conscious as possible. We are the only campervan company in the UK to be awarded with a Green Tourism accreditation as well as being part of an industry leading carbon offsetting scheme “Climate Care”.

So what does it mean to get “Green Tourism” Accreditation?

We undertook a full green audit with the Green Tourism organisation, this involved assessing a large number of criteria to qualify, the main ones being:

Energy and resource usage

Running our company from renewable energy sources
Low energy lighting/heating in both our premises and in our campervans
Using modern energy efficient vehicles
Vehicles are highly insulated
Offering collection from main local transport hubs to minimise car usage

Waste minimisation and environmental practice

Providing environmentally friendly products in our campervans
Using eco-friendly cleaning products on our vehicles
Providing recycling facilities
Promoting best practice to create as little waste as possible and recycle where available (a Green Tips guide is provided with each campervan)
Supplying recycled bin bags
Supplying reusable drinks bottles to reduce waste

Nature and culture

We provide you with guides to and advice on:

Local tourism venues (across Scotland and Northern England)
Finding local shops and restaurants, and enjoying regional products
Exploring the local history, nature and wildlife

We as a company use other local companies to supply our products and services wherever possible. This supports local jobs and companies, which is particularly important in a rural area.

Carbon offsetting scheme

We are registered under a corporate scheme with “Climate Care”. So, from your booking, you contribute a small fee for each hire towards this. We then calculate the carbon used by the campervan journeys over an annual period as well as any usage over the year from running our business and then we make a payment to Climate Care, so they can offset the carbon. This is done via environmental projects particularly focused in developing countries.

This means that you can be safe in the knowledge that Counting Sheep Campers is run in an ethically and environmentally responsible way and the carbon use generated from your holiday will be offset to help keep the environment as clean as possible for this generation of campers and the next.

Value is a much overused and misunderstood word these days, but for us at Counting Sheep Campers it means providing you with a high quality modern VW campervan along with an efficient friendly service delivered with integrity, flexibility and in a sustainable way at a fair price to you.
